Finish What You Started

That’s the message I got the other day!

Have you ever noticed how the Universe works in really ironic ways some times? You think you’re really on to something, and you get all excited about it, and then in the next moment you get yanked back to reality like a bad dog on a short leash, or like when you were a kid (in my generation at least) when your parents tied you to a clothesline so you could run around a bit but couldn’t leave the yard!

On Saturday night I read this really cool report by Paul Myers called The Fortune at Your Fingertips… (yes, I know sitting at home reading ebooks on Saturday night means I don’t have a life. Thanks for pointing that out!) …and I had tons of really cool ideas of things to create using his suggestions. Anyways, I was writing all these ideas down with the thought that I’d get up early Sunday morning and start to work on them.

Over Sunday morning coffee (mocha latte with mint chocolate ice cream, in case you were wondering) I was reading my horoscope. And doesn’t it tell me in just as plain vanilla English as you can get to not start anything new for awhile, but to finish what I’ve already started. Talk about a serious yank — didn’t take me long to reach the end of that rope! I could’ve sworn I heard my dad laughing at me, saying “Whoa Missy! Just where do you think you’re going?”

And y’know, I could live with that. I know deep down that I really should finish that stack of projects that’s piled up on my side board. And I really do have good intentions to do just that. But creating new things is so much more fun! It just really ticks me off sometimes that it’s not enough for “Them” to bring you back into reality (whatever that is) to learn your lesson, it’s that They always have to be right! I really hate it when They’re right.

So instead of starting a wonderful new project this week, I’m making a plan to finish up some of the old ones. They say that if you want something new you have to clear out the old to make room for it. And I want a new house in a new province before the summer’s out. Guess I better get back to work here…
